Cartoon Capers on the ZX Spectrum
So what cartoon tie in games made it on to the great ZX Spectrum, did they prove themselves graphically or were they terrible? I've been pleasantly surprised !
Asterix and the Magic Cauldron - Melbourne House (Australia/UK) 1986 - yep this certainly looks like Asterix , it's bright and colourful but graphics drawing time is quite long and the action box I find quite annoying (but I think that's just me as I know others who love this game!)
Paddington's Garden Game - Aimed at ages 5 - 8 years, although I think it could be a bit tricky for the younger age bracket. It's a wander around a garden chasing butterflies, beautiful graphics , simplistic and surprisingly addictive. Not too convinced by the main graphic , but it sort of looks bear like!

Fireman Sam - Alternative Software Ltd 1992, prepare for frustration as your vehicle will only turn when moving, the map has to be memorised to get anywhere and prepare to mash O and P to get your hosepipe to work. Other than that nice graphics! Looks lovely but very frustrating on the controls!
SuperTed: The Search for Spot - graphically lovely and with some great title screen music , a nice challenging , side scrolling game. Get Superted to beat up all the enemies ( or just fly round them and avoid them ) to save Spotty. It only has two levels so it's a nice game for the younger gamer.

Inspector Gadget and the Circus of Fear - Melbourne House (Australia/UK) - 1987 - although delayed in release Inspector Gadget did make it on to the ZX Spectrum and the graphic is really well done, the game play isn't too bad either . Could that be Horace guest starring as well?!
Tom & Jerry 2 by Magic Bytes - find the cheese, avoid Tom , try to work out just how that jump gets you over the furniture , for the Spectrum it is good graphics, but the jump function is frustrating. However, despite that there is something a little addictive about this one.

BraveStarr - published by Go! in 1987, a shooter with some flying and puzzle solving in. Really lovely game even if you don't remember the cartoon, nice controls and really very playable.

Hong Kong Phooey- by Hi-Tec Software Ltd in 1991, a lovely game, with great detail on the graphics as well, puzzle solving and baddies to kick out the way as well.

TheJetsons - Hi-Tec Software, control different family members (or in my case get stuck and not get off level one!) jolly music, falling down holes gets frustrating quickly, but nice graphics.
